Teach for Change NGO - ANPCDDA

The former National Anti-Drug Agency, restructured into the National Agency for Policies and Coordination in the Field of Drugs and Addictions and led by Ms. Alina Mirela Bocai, brought together today at Victoria Palace (the Romanian Government) the members of the Inter-Ministerial and Inter-Sectoral Committee, of which we are proud to announce that our NGO, Teach for Change Association, is part.

The current agency goes beyond the scope of the former ANA and addresses all addictions, including drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, gambling, gaming, and other addictive behaviors such as social media and problematic digital media use.

Perhaps an essential shift in the current agency's approach to addiction is viewing an addicted child or adult as a chronic patient, shifting away from the punitive paradigm in which society previously operated and emphasizing the need for support and treatment.

Today's committee meeting focused on developing the National Strategy in the Field of Drugs and Addictions, launching a process that will not be easy at all, and in which both member public institutions—the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education, the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT)—and we, the non-governmental organizations involved in the project, have a voice.

Teach for Change Association is ready to support this vital transformation and bring the community's voice directly to decision-makers.
