Maria, Registered nurse, OET

Straight from the benches of the "Sf. Bartolomeu" Post-secondary School in Cluj-Napoca, Maria went directly to care for patients with Alzheimer's and dementia at a nursing home in Wales. From the position of health care support worker, which she loves, she began preparing for the OET medical English language exam, necessary for registration as a nurse in the UK.

At first, preparing for medical English seemed challenging. But, step by step, she grew to love every online class with Andreea Berkhout Academy. She felt nervous about the Speaking subtest, and for Writing, she eagerly awaited each session, keen to decipher the medical "puzzles" that will form the foundation of her future clinical practice.

Everything passed: homework, efforts, and fears. Today, her OET results are excellent, and Maria is ready to transform her experience from the care home into a wonderful career as a registered nurse in the UK—either in the NHS or in the private sector.

From her patients, she learned that the most powerful things in life remain emotions and memories. Even when they no longer recognize their family, patients smile when they hear their favorite music from their youth or when they see children playing.
